Muscles of Anterior Compartment of Arm




        Muscles of the anterior compartment of Arm.


1.Biceps brachii
2.Brachialis 
3.Coracobrachialis

 1.Biceps brachii-
               
                 Origin. long head from the supraglenoid tubercle 
                               short head from the coracoid process of the scapula
       

                  Insertion. radial tuberosity of the radius



         Action and Nerve supply.
                                                              Flexion of the elbow and supplied by the musculocutaneous nerve (C5-C6)


CLINICAL ANATOMY-  
                                            testing of biceps brachii by doing flexion of the elbow against resistance...






  2. Coracobrachialis. 
         
             . Origin- the tip of the coracoid process of the scapula
                         
                  . Insertion- medial border of the middle part of the humerus
                 
               
                 .  Action and nerve supply-  flexion of elbow                                                                 joint  and supplied by the musculocutaneous nerve   (C5-C7)



      3.  Brachialis-

                               .Origin- anteromedial and anterolateral side of the distal part of the humerus 
                

                                          .  Insertion- coronoid process  and ulnar tuberosity           



                              . Action and nerve supply- flexion the forearm at the elbow joint supplied by musculocutaneous nerve C5-C6 (motor) and radial nerve (proprioceptive )   C7-C8
